Summer has never been busier for Kensington Soccer Club and nothing we do would be possible without the help of our local youth.

Thanks to the Philadelphia WorkReady program, we brought on 24 teenage coaches to assist in the operation of our summer camp, soccer clinics, and workshops; we couldn’t be more thankful for their help. Rain or shine, morning to evening, our teen coaches can be spotted leading drills, directing kids where to go, and just having a laugh with others.

Because of their dedication, we’re able to reach out to more children simultaneously across the broader Kensington area, promoting healthy and positive activity and changing lives through the game we love.

We asked a few of them what drove their decision to get involved with us this summer. Check out their responses below:

LEXUS ROMAN: Throughout the years, this program has become a huge part of who I am. It’s improved my mental health and I continue to enjoy the children and coaches who I share memories and time with.

MICAH DEANE: I enjoy helping out the youth in this community and giving children a place to go and have fun.

HENRY LEIGHTON: I thought this would be a fun way to share soccer with others.

ZATHDIELYS DAVILA: I like to see kids get engaged in things that will benefit them in the future.

JEREMIAH TOVAR: I wanted to help the kids and give them a good experience.

YVANNA BURGOS: I have a passion for soccer and it makes me happy. Being able to teach kids the sport I love is an amazing thing.
