Kensington Soccer Club was one of 20 grassroots organizations to be gifted a $10,000 grant for improving the quality of life in the Kensington neighborhoods.

The grant was awarded by the Kensington Community Resilience Fund, a public-private community partnership created to elevate community empowerment, neighborhood investment, and economic opportunity, as well as addressing the opioid crisis in Kensington.

Deputy Managing Director of Community Services Joanna Otero-Cruz said in a city news release that the fund “represents the truly resilient spirit of the Kensington, Harrowgate, and Fairhill communities.”

“[The KCR Fund] is the culmination of nearly two years of work to develop a new way of working in partnership with the community to direct resources to the programs and organizations that are most important to residents,” Otero-Cruz said.
