FAFSA 1st 2015

KSC is happy to see another class on their way to graduation and pursuing higher education. As a friendly reminder to our high school seniors we want you to remember the the first of the year means you can submit your FAFSA application.

We've included some guides, worksheets, and demo videos to help you along. The FAFSA is a free application for financial aid and the process for completing it is pretty simple and straightforward. Even so we understand with this being your first time there will be some questions. It's important that both you and your parents sit down today and gather everything you will need to get started and finished. There is no reason to postpone your application. Much of the aid, especially state aid is on a first come first serve basis. Even if you have not finished applying to schools it is important to just get your aid application submitted. Admissions counselors can always download your aid app from FAFSA.

First Steps:

  • register for you and your parent's PIN at pin.ed.gov
  • your social security number for yourself and your parents
  • 2014 Federal Income Tax Returns. It's okay to estimate since you or your parents will not have it on the 1st
  • bank statements
  • brokerage statements

Remember the FAFSA process is free. You should only submit information at fafsa.gov and never pay anything to submit your application.

if you plan to enroll before Fall 2015 please contact your school's financial aid office to find out which year's FAFSA you should complete.

The University of California has a well down demo on their website. Take a few minutes to go through it. The more you and your parents see the process played out the easier it will be on January 1st. Click the image below to access it.

Again here are the links you will need.
