Joseph Valentin

Secretary

I first heard of KSC through my cousin. I was looking for a sports program in the community for my son. My son was having a great time making new friends and learning the game of soccer and when I met with the staff of KSC I wanted to make myself available to be helpful in any way I could. I knew that with my background in Non-profit, business, and higher education I knew that I could provide a skill to help KSC continue its mission of building the neighborhood I grew up in. I grew up in Kensington and lived near Towey playground for almost 25 years. I now have two boys and I look forward to soon having my two sons participate in KSC.

Veronica Stickelman

Veronica first became involved with KSC volunteering as a coach. Her background with soccer started at 6 years old and continued until she finished her collegiate run at Drexel University. Through Drexel, Veronica took part in student-athlete mentorship programs, encouraging youth to understand the importance of finding structure and balance between their education and athletic pursuits. After college, she spent years as a volunteer coach with Street Soccer Philadelphia, encouraging adults residing in shelters, to take up the sport and translate the lessons of the experience into their daily lives - and making life-long friendships in the process. To Veronica, the beautiful game has always created a sense of community, family-like support, a place to grow and even sometimes retreat and it continues to be important to help others make that connection. Veronica works in documentary and docuseries programming as a producer and director where she aims to provide inspiration and education wrapped in an entertaining package. KSC is a perfect parallel to this larger mission. Soccer is and should be fun, but the value of soccer is immeasurable. Through her production experience and other board work at NAMIC (National Association of Multiethnicity in Communications) and PWIFT (Philadephia Women in Film and Television), Veronica brings a wealth of operational organizational skills, resourcefulness, and overall non-profit knowledge.

Viulka Arias Guzman

I learned about KSC via an online post searching for volunteer coaches back in 2017. Over the summer of 2017, I volunteered to coach U13 girls recreational soccer alongside coach Mike. I have always been an athlete and because I was new to Philadelphia I was motivated to get to know my neighborhood. My background in soccer dates back to secondary school where I played in Reading. Today, I am the heach coach at Olney Charter High School for the Girls' Varsity soccer program. I am also a full time ELA / Spanish high school teacher and graduate student at Chestnut Hill College (pursuing M. Ed) . For me, soccer goes beyond the field. The girls I have coached, I have also mentored and have remained a lifelong friend.
