Why should you support KSC?
Kensington Soccer Club has been working hard to expose kids to soccer at a high standard and also to engage in broad youth and community development. Kensington has the highest levels of poverty in the city and struggles with other poverty-related challenges. Whether it’s violence, obesity, lack of educational opportunity, or teens becoming parents, there’s a lot for our youth to overcome and we want to help equip them with the tools to do so. We rely on donations of time, equipment, and resources.

There's a lack of programs for youth in this neighborhood and elsewhere in Philadelphia. Our intramural program for high school age players is particularly rare and brings people from far away. Our programs are free for all ages, although we encourage families to give a small amount (from $5 to $30). We want to make sure that lack of money isn’t a barrier to a good experience, so we provide players with equipment on loan if they can't afford their own. Over our last three programs, we’ve given 217 players a soccer ball to take home and keep so that they can practice, stay fit, and stay busy with safe activities. For some, it’s one of their few possessions. Your support can make a crucial difference in the lives of our amazing children.

DONATE EQUIPMENT AND MONEY
We need any and all soccer equipment including balls, cleats, shin-guards, sneakers, clothing, goals, cones, goalie gear, etc. Contact us to arrange drop-off or pick-up of equipment. We also need cash donations so we can provide the quality program that Kensington children and families deserve. Your donation will help pay for scholarships, field trips, snacks, uniforms, neighborhood soccer festivals, and our Teen Leaders Initiative. For your donations to be tax deductible, make your checks out to our fiscal agent, "Unity Center, Inc" and write "Kensington Soccer Club" in the memo line. You can mail or drop off equipment and checks to: Kensington Soccer Club, 2316 Emerald St., Philadelphia, PA 19125.

Watch and Learn

Volunteers are the life-blood of the Kensington Soccer Club. Even your smallest effort can make a big difference. And you'll have fun in the process! There are several ways other ways you can get involved. For the most up to date volunteer information, go to our volunteer page.

Co-Coach
Each team will have at least two coaches so if you don't know soccer, we'll pair you with someone who does. We'll be playing on small fields with small teams so you'll enjoy getting to know our amazing kids, mentor them, and build teamwork skills. If you would need to miss a game we could still use your help.

Team Parent or Manager
The Team Parent/Manager is a very important role, but doesn’t require any soccer knowledge at all. Your main responsibility is to help things go smoothly for your team. This includes helping the coach set up the practice sessions and games, making sure all the players sign in and out.

Help our kids get SMART with Soccer Making Academics Real Together
Players stop at our SMART table before or after their games to engage their brains and win soccer prizes. You'll help little ones read picture books about soccer or help older players pick out a good novel or look up players in a soccer encyclopedia. We have a variety of books and activities that players can use. You get to help them translate their excitement for soccer into an excitement for reading, math, or science! No expertise required and you won't be alone.

Referee
Our intramural leagues rely on volunteer referees so we don't have to turn away players from low-income families. If you are familiar with the rules of soccer and want to help young players learn the rules also, we'd love to have you join us!

Outreach
For a successful league, we need lots of kids! We regularly set up tables at community events, calling and visiting community groups and schools, posting fliers, and calling kids who said they were interested. Spanish speakers particularly welcome. You can also "like" our facebook page and share it with your friends!

Organize and Coordinate
In order for all of our operations to run smoothly, we need people like you to help organize and coordinate all the varied aspects of our work. Contact us and we can find a way for you to contribute that fits your skills, interests, and schedule.

Durante el verano logramos completar nuestro segundo programa anual para jóvenes de la comunidad de Kensington y nos estamos preparando para nuestro programa de otoño. Con su ayuda nuestro programa proveerá a nuestros jóvenes actividades positivas, saludables y divertidas.

También necesitamos donaciones monetarias para proveer un programa de alta calidad para los jóvenes y familias de Kensington. Entrenadores Conjuntos
Cada equipo tiene dos entrenadores, pero si usted no conoce el futbol le podemos dar un compañero/a con más experiencia. Jugamos en canchas pequeñas con equipos pequeños así disfrutara la experiencia de conocer y trabajar en equipo con nuestros jugadores. Para más información contáctenos.

Publicidad
Para crear una liga exitosa necesitamos muchos jóvenes. Durante las próximas semanas estaremos participando, llamando y visitando a varios grupos de la comunidad, escuelas, repartiendo información y llamando a jóvenes que ya están interesados.
